TALKS & PRESENTATIONS

Talk_collage2_

The only reason to give a talk is to change the world. That may seem like a lofty statement but it holds true. Just as climbing a mountain is ‘one step at a time’ to reach the summit, so is changing minds to realize personal growth ‘one idea at a time’.  Age is not a factor, nor position in life, nor monetary worth. We live amongst equals and someone is always breaking free and pushing the edge. How close can you safely get to that edge? That’s where your success lies! Individuals and companies are the same; we all want the most for ourselves. We need to be alive, daring and committed.

Speaking to students and business owners alike has been a very rewarding experience for me. To young people it is about the world of the possible, to business people it is the ‘why’ we need to push beyond our reach. Our desire to achieve loads the gun, but it is our gut sense that pulls the trigger. It is in our gut where we measure ourselves.

I believe I have a unique vision of the world. My background as a child was an artist, as a young man an explorer and traveler, as an adult an entrepreneur, and now in my life I feel the need to push my psychological and physical limits in extreme nature. At 64 I am as ambitious now as I have ever been.  I love life. I don’t want to miss out on a single opportunity that comes my way. I am no different than anyone else. If I can imagine and reach my goals, I know you can to.

My philosophy is simple: DARE or Wither.

  • Imagine your goal; Picture it in your mind; get Passionate about it.
  •    Get outside of the box, be innovative, push your personal/ team limits.
  •       Follow the 3P’s: Plunge into it; Psychologically master it; Persevere.
  •          You will ultimately reach your goal.

I love to inspire people to expect more from themselves. We only get out of life what we are willing to put into it. How can you live life never knowing if you could have done more, not having fully explored your potential?

Your world is exactly what you think it is – so think of it differently and your life will change

I would be delighted to speak to your company, organization or school.

I am based out of Montreal, P.Q. Canada.

About Me
QUOTES

"When I climb a mountain, I go one step at a time. It gets really hard at times, your body hurts, your mind gets numb with pain. But that is what it is about. To find out who you are. To look deep inside yourself and see what great potential is in there." Theodore Fairhurst.

"Nothing comes easy in life. That is the beauty of it all. You get out of life what you are willing to put into it." Theodore Fairhurst.

"Strong motivation is the most important factor in getting you to the top" -- Edmund Hillary

"Everest for me, and I believe for the world, is the physical and symbolic manifestation of overcoming odds to achieve a dream" —- Tom Whittaker

"Living with the immediacy of death helps you sort out your priorities in life. It helps you to live a less trivial life." Sogyal Rinpoche

"Finding bodies melting out of the glacier ice. That is not easy to see. Summit day you are on your own in the death zone and there is no room for error. No one can help you. It is just you, the mountain, and your life." Theodore Fairhurst

"I was in continual agony; I have never in my life been so tired as on the summit of Everest that day. I just sat and sat there, oblivious to everything".  Reinhold Messner.

"Everest demands your psychological tenacity. You must be stubborn; you must hold fast; you must know why you are there. You must see what you don’t want to see, but be able to remove it from mind’s eye. You must focus on one thing or you will die. Your world is exactly one step at a time." Theodore Fairhurst

"We took risks. We knew we took them. Things have come out against us. We have no cause for complaint." Scott, found in his diary after the party froze in Antarctica

"Because it is there." George Mallory (1886-1924), answer to the question 'Why do you want to climb Mt. Everest ?'
