Richard Bass(American) first reached this goal April 30 1985. However, there is some controversy whether Mount Kosciusko 2,228 meters (7,310 ft.) in the Australian Mainland or Mount Carstensz Pyramid 4,884 m (16,024 ft.) in the Australian Continent on the island of New Guinea which lies on the Australian Continental Shelf is really the 7th Summit. Pat Morrow (Canadian) was the 1st to climb both Kosciuszko and Carstensz Pyramid and completed all (8) summits on May 7 1986. Morrow was quoted: “Being a climber first and a collector second, I felt strongly that, the highest mountain in Australasia … was a true mountaineer’s objective.”

7Summits

My project of reaching all Seven Summits only seriously began after climbing Mount Everest. I have since climbed all of the 7 (or 8 – see above ) Summits on every continent, including both Carstensz Pyramid (March 19, 2014) and Kosciuszko (April 10, 2014). Most serious climbers will now climb both mountains.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1524515816672{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;padding-left: 30px !important;}” offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][ultimate_heading main_heading=”PHOTOS ALBUMS” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”bottom” line_height=”1″ main_heading_font_size=”desktop:18px;” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:20px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_masonry_grid post_type=”ids” element_width=”12″ gap=”5″ item=”2432″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1524764938814-b5f4b737-e538-6″ include=”241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 247″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]
